NEW BOOK ON TRANSPARENCY IN PHILANTHROPY
The Philanthropy Roundtable has published a new book by noted legal scholar John Tyler of the E. M. Kauffman Foundation, titled Transparency in Philanthropy: An Analysis of Accountability, Fallacy, and Volunteerism addressing recent calls for more transparency in private philanthropy and how philanthropic organizations can respond.

Charitable Giving Coalition Urges Federal Officials to Protect Charitable Tax Deduction
As political leaders in Washington, D.C. negotiate tax reform and deficit reduction, incentives that encourage charitable giving in America are threatened like never before. On December 4-5, the Charitable Giving Coalition is bringing together more than 200 frontline nonprofit and charitable sector leaders for “Protect Giving – D.C. Days.” Participants representing thousands of communities in every state will urge Congress to protect a 100-year-old American tradition of common-sense tax policies that help support critical programs and services on which millions of Americans rely.
The Charitable Giving Coalition sent letters today to President Obama and Congressional leaders including Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), Senate Majority Harry Leader Reid (D-NV), House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) urging them to preserve the charitable deduction as they discuss tax reform and deficit reduction.
Coalition Urges Strong Incentives to Encourage Donations
